Development Worker as Advisor (m/f/d) for the Organisational Development of a Civil Society Partner

The project 'Strengthening Reconciliation Processes in Sri Lanka' (SRP), commissioned by the German Federal Foreign Office and the European Union (EU), works in close collaboration with government, non-government and grassroots organisations to strengthen reconciliation efforts in Sri Lanka's post-conflict context. One of SRP's civil society partners is the National Fisheries Solidarity Organisation (NAFSO). In April 2019, SRP started funding NAFSO's initiative 'Mobilising and Unifying Men, Women and Youth from Fisher Communities for Reconciliation and Peace Building Efforts', which seeks to empower men, women and youth in 25 communities to utilise rights, policies and other mechanisms to overcome economic and social injustices while advocating for reconciliation and sustainable peace in the country.
- Empowering NAFSO to communicate and market its brand more effectively in national and international context and supporting its long-term efforts in the field
- Supporting NAFSO in developing a marketing and communication strategy
- Assisting NAFSO in developing a fundraising strategy with the help of innovative methods
- Contributing to NAFSO´s financial sustainability
- Academic background (Master's degree) with a focus on development studies, peace and conflict or Governance
- Experience in the area of organisational strategy development or capacity building
- Sound understanding and skills in communication, marketing, fundraising and branding
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Cultural sensibility to adapt to the local context, including strong ability to listen and observe

In general, the security situation is calm. GIZ staff must adhere to security measures at all times. Please also check the county-specific information provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. A contact person for security risk management is appointed at the local GIZ office. There are no special restrictions to freedom of movement in the working environment. GIZ does not impose any restrictions on life partners and family members to move with you to the country of deployment. We kindly ask you to inform yourself which forms of relationships are legally and socially accepted in the country of deployment.
Additional information about the location Negombo: Sri Lanka's climate is tropical and consists of distinct wet and dry seasons. Good health care services and hospitals are available in Negombo. International standard health services are available in Colombo (30 km distance). International Schools are available in Colombo. Everything necessary for daily life can be purchased in Negombo. Negombo is close to the airport and everything can be easily reached with taxis/tuktuks.
Please note that this position is a short term position! Only candidates can be considered who had already a minimum of 1 year contract as a development worker according to the Entwicklungshelfergesetz (EhfG).
